Universal Robots makes collaborative robots (cobots), accessories and what it calls Physical AI solutions. The company was founded in 2005 and lists its headquarters in Odense, Denmark.
Teradyne's 2015 announcement described its cobots as low-cost, easy-to-deploy and simple-to-program robots that work side by side with production workers. Universal Robots reported revenue above $38 million in 2014, per that announcement.
On the factory floor, Universal Robots says the UR20 handles arc welding, machine tending, material handling and palletizing, and also lists electronics, automotive, metal fabrication and food and beverage as applications.
