About Industrial Mind

What actually happened in industrial AI this week. Written for people who run or supply factories, plants and industrial operations.

industrialmind.com is an independent publication. It is not a vendor, sells no software, takes no sponsorship, and is not affiliated with any company it lists or covers, including companies with similar names.

How the digest is made

AI does the sorting and summarizing. A fixed rulebook, and two scripts that check its work, decide what gets in. Here is every step.

  1. Collect. Every Sunday a script reads trade press feeds (The Robot Report, Manufacturing Dive, IEEE Spectrum robotics, Assembly, Quality, TechCrunch robotics) and Google News searches on industrial AI topics.
  2. Filter. The script keeps the last 7 days, drops duplicates, and drops press-release wires.
  3. Pick and summarize. AI picks 8 to 12 items under 5 fixed headings: Factory floor, Robotics, Energy & process industries, Deals & funding, Research. Each item gets a headline, 2 to 3 plain sentences, and the source link.
  4. Check. A second script blocks the issue if any link wasn't in this week's collection or doesn't load, if one source supplies more than 3 items, or if a number or company name appears that isn't in the source item.
  5. Publish. The issue goes on this site, then out by email on Monday at 12:00 UTC.

The rulebook

If a mistake gets through, tell us. Corrections are made on the issue page and noted.

The glossary and the companies list

The glossary defines the terms that come up in the digest, with sources on every page. The companies list gives one dated, factual line per company or lab, written from each one's own website. Some companies also have their own page with products, ownership and funding history. Valuations on those pages can come from named press reports, and are marked as such. Nobody pays to be listed.
