Questions about predictive maintenance companies
What is predictive maintenance?
Predictive maintenance is maintenance triggered by a prediction of failure, based on measured equipment condition such as vibration, temperature, or noise. It aims to act before a failure, but not earlier than needed.
Is predictive maintenance the same as condition monitoring?
No. Condition monitoring detects that a machine has changed. Predictive maintenance estimates when that change becomes a failure, which needs failure history. Many programs stop at detection.
Which predictive maintenance companies have named customers?
Our deployments tracker lists 43 predictive maintenance deployments for 9 of the 10 companies on this page, each with a named customer and a source: Samotics (9), KCF Technologies (8), Tractian (7), AssetWatch (6), Augury (4), Gecko Robotics (4), Nanoprecise (2), Waites (2), Petasense (1). 31 of the 43 are in production; the rest are pilots or announcements.
Who owns the predictive maintenance companies on this list?
For the 6 we have profiled: AssetWatch: Private; Augury: Private; Gecko Robotics: Private; KCF Technologies: Private, employee-owned; Tractian: Private; Uptake: Private (sale to Bosch pending). Each profile gives the source for its ownership and funding.
How is this list made?
Each row is written from the company's own website and dated. Deployment counts come from our tracker, where every entry needs a named customer and a source that loads. Being listed is not an endorsement, and nobody pays to be listed or ranked. The list is in alphabetical order.
