No. MVTec Software GmbH is a private German company. In 2019 it said it would keep its existing shareholder structure and stay independent of third-party investors, and no stock listing was found.
MVTec Software makes machine vision software. Its products are used for quality inspection, robot guidance, identification and measurement in industries such as semiconductors and electronics, battery production, food and logistics. It was founded in 1996 and says it has over 300 employees.
The company is MVTec Software GmbH, based in Munich, Germany. Its managing director is Dr. Olaf Munkelt, a co-founder. In 2019, when co-founder Dr. Wolfgang Eckstein stepped down as managing director and stayed on as a co-owner, MVTec said it would keep its shareholder structure and remain independent of third-party investors.
It sells three main products. HALCON is a programming library for developers; MERLIC builds vision applications without code; the Deep Learning Tool labels images and trains models for both. The products share one base, and tools written in HALCON can be used inside MERLIC.
Products
HALCON
MVTec describes it as a 2D and 3D machine vision software library for developing and running vision applications, from image acquisition to deep learning, with GPU acceleration and subpixel-accurate measurement. It says HALCON is used in tens of thousands of applications worldwide (company-reported).
MERLIC
No-code machine vision software: applications are built by configuring standard tools on the image, combining deep learning and rule-based tools for inspection, measurement, OCR, code reading and 3D. MERLIC applications can also run on Siemens Industrial Edge devices.
Deep Learning Tool
Software for labeling images and training and evaluating deep learning models without programming, with export to HALCON and MERLIC. Offered in free, professional and OEM editions.
